Abu Dhabi is blessed with an array of impressive landmarks and monuments with a rich and interesting history. The city skyline is ever growing with tall skyscrapers and new developments. Visitors will enjoy the city parks in Abu Dhabi, such as the Corniche, which has some relaxing areas with fountains and monuments.
The city is home to numerous old buildings and similar landmarks, such as the Qasr al-Hosn, which was built in the late 1700s. This particular building was first used as a watchtower to guard the only freshwater supply in Abu Dhabi. The 200-year-old Hatta Watchtower is another great place to visit, with spectacular views of the city.

Situated within the Al Ain Museum grounds, the Eastern Fort is an imposing building from centuries past that once housed the ruling family. Only a small structure, the fort consists of four high watchtowers with cannons for protection. There are old relics and memorabilia inside that are fascinating to see and learn about.

The Qasr al-Hosn is one of the city's oldest landmarks and dates back to the mid to late 1700s. This much-loved building was first used as a watchtower to guard the only freshwater source in the surrounding area. The tower is commonly called the 'White Fort' after it was covered with white paint in the late 1970s.

Al Manhal Palace is situated just two blocks from the centre of the downtown district in Abu Dhabi. The 143-acre / 58-hectare area is one of the greenest in the city and was once home to a former ruler of the UAE. The palace building is now beyond repair and locals hope that one day it will be rebuilt and returned to its former glory.
